Actor Don Cheadle Takes A Moment To Honor Nelson Mandela During The BET Awards

Actor Don Cheadle takes a moment to send thoughts and prayers to Nelson Mandela and his family during the BET Awards broadcast.

 LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES (BET) - The BET Awards took a moment to honor Nelson Mandela and send their thoughts and prayers to the South Africa icon Sunday (June 30) night.

Actor Don Cheadle spoke for a minute about Mandela before handing out the

"Before we get started we want to take a moment to send our prayers and thoughts to a man who literally changed the world. A man who once said our human compassion binds us to one to the other. This evening we would like to offer our prayers and support and hope to the extraordinaryNelson Mandela and his family," Cheadle said.

The faltering health of the first black president of South Africa, a revered symbol of racial reconciliation, has drawn world attention since the 94-year-old was rushed to hospital with a recurring lung infection nearly three weeks ago.
