The nominees for best foreign language films are Belgium's "The Broken Circle Breakdown," Italy's "The Great Beauty," Denmark's "The Hunt," Cambodia's "The Missing Picture," and Palestine's "Omar."

 (TRIBECA FILM) - The nominees for best foreign language film are: "The Broken Circle Breakdown," from Belgium, "The Great Beauty," from Italy, "The Hunt," fromDenmark, "The Missing Picture," from Cambodia, and "Omar," from Palestine.

Cambodia's French-language documentary "The Missing Picture," which uses clay figurines to tell the story of the bloody reign of the Khmer Rouge government, made the list, becoming the country's first film to score an Oscar nomination.

Director Hany Abu-Assad, whose 2005 film "Paradise Now" earned Palestine's only Oscar foreign-language nomination, made the list with thriller "Omar."

Drama "The Great Beauty" from Italy, which has won a record 13 best foreign picture Oscars as a country, and Danish drama "The Hunt" starring Mads Mikkelsenalso made the list.

Belgium's "The Broken Circle Breakdown," directed by Felix Van Groeningen, is based on the stage play of the same name by Johan Heldenbergh and Mieke Dobbels. The film follows a couple in Ghent, Belgium, whose love for bluegrass music unites them over their seven year relationship.

The annual Academy Awards, Hollywood's top film honors, will be handed out on March 2.
