WASHINGTON, D.C., UNITED STATES (JANUARY 21, 2013) (UNRESTRICTED POOL) -  The presidential inauguration ceremony on Monday (January 21) featured performances by singers BeyonceJames Taylor and Kelly Clarkson.

Both performing patriotic songs, Taylor sang "America the Beautiful" and Clarkson sang "My Country, 'Tis of Thee." The last to perform, Beyonce sang the national anthem to hundreds of thousands of people gathered at the U.S. Capitol and the National Mall.

Obama had a formal swearing-in on Sunday (January 20) at the White House because of a constitutional requirement that the president take the oath on January 20. Rather than stage the full inauguration on a Sunday, the main public events were put off until Monday.
