EVO -   The 35th Moscow International Film opened on Thursday (June 20), with American film star and producer Brad Pitt presenting his new film "World War Z".

The crowd went wild when the main star of the evening, Brad Pitt, showed up on the red carpet.

Pitt, who is on his first ever visit to Russia, was very cheerful and chatty, paying attention to both fans and journalists along the red carpet.

Pitt came to Moscow without his wife Angelina Jolie, but brought his daughters with him.

However, he came to the festival on his own, saying that daughters were out sightseeing while he was working.

"Well, they are out seeing some of the town. We got to see some of it this morning and daddy came to work now and I'll meet up with them later," Pitt said.

Asked if he liked Russia, Pitt said: "Ah, it's great. We've been having such a great time. And my girls were so, like, taken by the Bolshoi, it was really nice to watch them."

"World War Z" is based on the eponymous apocalyptic horror novel by Max Brooks. In the movie adaptation, Pitt plays a retired UN inspector who is called back to service during the outbreak of a zombie pandemic.

The film premiered in London on June 2 and has been already acclaimed as an intelligent and entertaining blockbuster.
