At least five people are dead and dozens injured after a massive pile up on the A19 highway near the Baltic Sea Coast.
Early reports spoke of a dust storm causing the massive crash. Later witnesses spoke of a quote "black wallof sand" blocking visibility.
Eighty vehicles were involved in the incident.
One motorist could not quite remember what happened.
German Motorist, saying:
"I have never seen anything like it before and it's difficult to describe. I think I will only later realize what happened. I think this is my second birthday today," .
The A19 is one of the major highways leading to the Baltic Sea coast, a popular weekend destination for residents from Berlin and further south.
There is no speed limit on parts of many of Germanys roadways.
