Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens, Abbie Cornish and the stars of "Sucker Punch" hit the red carpet in Hollywood.
REUTERS / WARNER BROTHERS - The fierce females of "Sucker Punch" hit the red carpet to celebrate the premiere of their new movie.

The film follows a young institutionalized girl who uses her imagination to create a new world.

Actress Abbie Cornish says she was blown away by the story.

Abbie Cornish, actress, saying:

"When I first read the script I was about ten pages in and I couldn't believe that it was on paper. I couldn't believe that someone had come up with concept and actually transferred further into scenes, into a script."

Initial attention may be focused on the breathtaking visuals and fight scenes.

But co-star Vanessa Hudgens says it was more about what the mind can do and the journey people take.

Vanessa Hudgens, actress, saying:

"I just mean it's one of the more empowering things that a female can watch. I left the movie theater thinking I could accomplish anything. So I think if I saw it as a thirteen year old. I would be ready to tackle the world. I wouldn't be the shy little me that I was."

The main star Emily Browning hopes the film will serve a dual purpose.

Emily Browning, actress, saying:

"I hope that people are extremely entertained but I hope that girls get to finally see some people in an action film that they can associate with. There's a lot of cool, varied interesting female characters and hope girls are excited by that,"

"Sucker Punch" opens in U.S. theaters March 25.
