Katy Perry says she cannot believe she won Best Female at the 2013 MTV EMA's in Amsterdam. AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS (NOVEMBER 10, 2013) (REUTERS0) - While all the action was happening on stage at the MTV EMA's on Sunday (Nov.10) night, backstage some of the stars of the show came back to address the media. Katy Perry won the battle of the Best Female against the likes of Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga. When asked how she reacted, she replied "I wasn't expecting it actually. I was just sitting down having a glass of champagne thinking I was being set up and went 'What?' and spat out my glass of champagne, went up and received it. It just means my fans are the best." Jared Leto, whose band 30 Seconds to Mars won the Best Alternative award, asked the crowd at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam for a minute's silence for the people who had lost their lives during the typhoon in the Phillipines. However, the minute of silence didn't really happen. Speaking backstage, the Hollywood actor and now award-winning musician, said "I think that the majority of the place got pretty quiet. I think it's probably hard to hear in there because people speak different languages.... The message is what's important, to send some support and love across the world. I think that's an appropriate thing to do." The event was closed by a performance of 'I Love It' by Swedish duo Icona Pop, which had the audience up and dancing to their hit. |
