EVO - Items from some of the world's biggest music stars are hitting the block.Julien's Auctions in Beverly Hills, California is holding its annual Rock N Roll sale. Nolan Martin, the executive director for the auction house, says the most valuable lot comes from Grateful Dead rocker Jerry Garcia.
"It's a Travis Bean guitar that Jerry played in 1976, 1977 on tour. And recently it was on display at the Cleveland Rock Hall of Fame when they did the exhibition for the Grateful Dead //And the estimate is 150,000 - 200,000 (USD) on that on." Elvis Presley has several items in the sale including the only pair of blue suede shoes known to be owned by the singer which are expected to snag 50 to 70,000 U.S. dollars. Four years after Michael Jackson's death, items from the King of Pop continue to be in demand. During the sale, which will be held on December 6th and 7th, over 70 lots from Jackson will go under the hammer. Among them: a heavily beaded military style jacket. Really, really heavy jacket, very ornate, it's a beautiful jacket. We estimate at 50,000-70,000 (USD)." Bob Dylan's popularity plays on as his handwritten song lyrics continue to command big dollars, with the lot estimate at 80-100,000 U.S. dollars. Other popular lots include love notes written by rocker Axl Rose to his former wife and a stage vest worn by Jimi Hendrix. |
