The sun comes out for the second day of London's Notting Hill Carnival as hundreds of thousands enjoy the annual explosion of colour and music.

LONDON, ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM (AUGUST 26, 2013) (ITN) -  Europe's largest street party erupted into a full blaze of colour for a second day on Monday (August 26) as hundreds of thousands lined the roads to watch the Notting Hill Carnival.

Performers wearing a vivid array of stunning costumes paraded through the streets under glorious sunshine - with temperatures reaching up to 26C (78.8F) in the British capital.

Hundreds of thousands of people descended on the west London streets as they are turned into a Caribbean party of dance, music, floats and food, including traditional jerk chicken.

"The reason why I have come here is because I want my kids to actually feel the carnival spirit because I am from Jamaica as well," said one carnival goer.

Today was adults' day of the 49th year of the festival which is expected to attract up to one million people over the two days.
