"Twilight" steals the show at the 2011 People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles, along with Johnny Depp, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Swift, and Katy Perry.
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES  - At this year's People's Choice Awards stars turned out in droves to see how their fans had rated them.

Many of Hollywood's biggest names skipped the blue carpet at the Nokia theatre in Los Angeles.

But comedienne Kathy Griffin stopped to plead her case on why her show "My Life on the D-List" deserved to get the "Guilty Pleasure" nomination.

Kathy Griffin, nominee, saying:

"You should have guilt when you're watching me and laughing. Or, I want you to have a little guilt. Really, my whole gig is shrouded in guilt and shame."

During the show, Grammy winner Elton John was warmly received.

The new dad was there to hand out the award for favorite country artist.

Elton John, singer, saying:

"And the winner is...Taylor Swift."

Taylor Swift, singer, saying:

"I am so honored to get an award from you and to the fans. This award coming from you is such a showing of love."

Screams erupted from the audience when Johnny Depp accepted his big win for favorite movie actor.

 Johnny Depp, actor, saying;

"Thank you so much for this. This is yet again a stupefying honor because it comes from the people, the people who keep us all here. I mean, if it wasn't for you none of us would be here."

Chart topper Katy Perry snapped up two honours: the award for favorite online sensation and the title for favorite female artist.

Amidst a room full of talent, "Twilight" stole the limelight for the third year in a row.

The vampire saga's third installment won favorite movie and drama.

Taylor Lautner accepted the trophy, along with co-stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, who took the favorite movie actress trophy earlier that night.

Taylor Lautner, actor, saying:

"I can't believe this. You guys are unreal, it still amazes me. This is, for movie number three, 'Eclipse,' already, you guys have gotten us here today, but you guys have also given us the opportunity to currently, like Kristen said, be filming 'Breaking Dawn,' the fourth and fifth installment."

Organizers said the fan-driven show received a record 175 million votes -- which were cast via the internet and other social media.
