Playboy opens its first casino in Mexico at the Caribbean beach resort of Cancun with a red carpet event featuring Carmen Electra and other playboy bunnies.

Playboy opened a new casino in the Mexican beach resort of Cancun on Saturday (December 4) with a red carpet event featuring actress and Playboy model, Carmen Electra.

The opening on Saturday was followed by a private party for VIPs and members of the Playboy Club, with the general public allowed in on the following day.

Playboy said it received some 1,500 applications from women around the world to work as playboy bunnies at the casino, but selected only 25 from countries including Mexico, Cuba, Argentina, Canada and Russia.

The selected "bunnies", will work as card dealers, hostesses and serve cocktails at Playboy Cancun.

The 12,000-square-foot casino includes gaming tables for roulette, blackjack and a betting parlour that will allow customers to place bets on major sporting events such as soccer matches and American football games.

Cancun is Mexico's premier beach resort that is popular with American tourists and college students, especially around the spring break holidays.
